We had the opportunity to meet by Zoom call with Artistic Director Nicole Stratton to discuss the Narnian productions at the Logos Theatre in South Carolina. You can watch the video to see our whole conversation, but a couple highlights will be included below. It’s such a joy to talk about Narnia with people who love Narnia so this was an absolute blast!

The Logos Theatre has put on productions of The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, Prince Caspian and The Horse and His Boy and has recently announced an upcoming production of The Silver Chair. A group of us from the Lion’s Call got to see The Horse and His Boy last summer which we loved. See Our Review of The Horse and His Boy.

Prince Caspian’s Return!
Stratton told us that they are planning on bringing back their production of Prince Caspian to give us something Narnian while The Silver Chair continues to be developed. The Pevensies themselves will have to be recast because the original actors are now too old for the parts, but other actors are likely to reprise their roles. It seems fitting that a story about returning will itself be returning to the stage. If you didn’t get the chance to see it before this will be the perfect opportunity for you.

Narnia on the Move?
Another thing Stratton talked about was the possibility of Narnian productions going on tour. There are a lot of challenges to this given the complexity of the set pieces, but there is also some precedent since they succeeded in bringing The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2016.

Invitation to Contribute Creatively
When talking about some of the creative challenges still to come in bringing the Silver Chair to life, Stratton gave the invitation for fans of Narnia to submit sketches or ideas, saying that credit would be given for any contributions that they use. You can email information@theacademyofarts.org with any ideas or artwork that you come up with.

How You Can Support the Logos Theatre During the Pandemic
The pandemic has made a huge impact by forcing live performances to be put on hold. This makes funding for future projects all the more difficult. You can help by paying to view pre-recorded performances (non-Narnian) or donating at their website: https://thelogostheatre.com/

You can also help them by following them on social media and spreading the word about what they’re working on:
